Flora Tabobondung served as Wasauksing First Nation Chief for 27 consecutive years. Along with staff from Niijaansinaanik Child and Family Services, members of Wasauksing First Nation gathered at the new Administration and Gathering Centre on Nov. 4 to celebrate former chief Flora Tabobondung and her vision for Indigenous child well-being. “As Indigenous people, our visions are integral to our spirit,” said Niijaansinaanik executive director Joanne Koehler. “The vision that Flora Tabobondung had was the beginning of what we know as Niijaansinaanik.”
