Niijaansinaanik Child and Family Services has been given the mandate of the 6 First Nation Communities under the Waabnoong Tribal Council and Shawanaga First Nation to do the work that is required to become a designated child wellbeing agency. This designation is historic as it is a necessary step in reclaiming jurisdiction over child welfare services for these communities.

It is our goal to ensure that while sometimes protection services are necessary, services will be delivered in a culturally sensitive manner that will protect the rights of Anishinaabe children to remain in their communities, with their families, have access to their culture, language and ensure they maintain their identities.
